Longevity for Baby Boomers
More than ever, the baby boomer generation is looking for ways to live longer and stay healthier. In 2006, the first of the baby boomers turned 60 and started to think about possible retirement and aging. Yet, they are far from “retiring” from life. David Wolfe, nutritionist and health educator, releases his new program Longevity Now in June. As David Wolfe has mentioned, present day society has become accustomed to cooked food, and has forgotten about the purity and benefits of simply preparing and eating raw foods. Why not eat more raw foods? In fact, there are so many benefits to raw foods.
1) Raw foods are packed with more minerals and nutrients than cooked foods and helps you eat less. Cooking foods many times depletes food of their natural vitamins and minerals. Therefore, you lose the extra nutrients and your body craves more in order to find the nutrients it needs for energy.
2) Raw foods have more flavor than cooked foods.
3) Eating more raw foods and less cooked foods reduces the volume of free radicals since cooking can create free radicals. Free radicals are linked to cancer. Therefore eating more raw and less cooked could lower your risk.
